Workshop - April 20th

On April 20th, representatives from Wolf Architecture, PND Engineering, and Corvus Design conducted a design charrette at the Kodiak Public Library with members of the Core Project Team, fire captains, and other stakeholders. Following introductions, scale survey maps of the site and massing blocks representing project programming, apparatus turning requirements, parking, and other site amenities were introduced as props for the exercise.

Over the next hour or so, three teams of 3-5 members each, arranged site and building elements to create site, building and massing schemes for consideration. At the conclusion of the exercise, the groups reconvened and discussed the attributes of the schemes. Each scheme was photographed for consideration and will be the basis for concept advancement by the design team.

Over the course of the next several weeks, additional site data will be gathered in the form of geotechnical borings, a phase one environmental report, and a traffic impact study. This information will help inform and validate how best to design for 25’ of topography.
