Join the Kodiak City Council at 7:30 in the Library Conference Room as they review the Schematic Design documents prepared for the replacement fire station project. Members from Wolf Architecture will present the completed 35% design drawings and go over the accompanying estimated cost of construction and project budget.

Project Overview

The City of Kodiak Fire Station provides the primary response to accidents, emergencies, and fires throughout the City and Island. Emergency personnel annually respond to over 1200 calls that include automobile accidents, health emergencies, as well as fires. The existing 60+ year-old facility cannot be upgraded to meet the current standards for an essential emergency facility. The building sits within the tsunami inundation zone and is not sufficient in size or structural design to meet current standards. As Kodiak’s only full-time staffed facility, these upgrades are essential to properly house, train and dispatch emergency responders. The new station will provide code-required decontamination, ventilation, and area separations allowing the station to serve as a Critical Facility and base of operations for the next 60 years.
